Selena Gomez returns to Instagram only a week after 'threatening' to delete it forever

Selena Gomez has made her return to Instagram, one week after taking a break from the platform amid the “horror, hate and violence going on in the world right now.”

The music star apologized for her ‘words not being enough’ as she continued: ‘I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t.” However, some fans weren’t very pleased with the comment, seeing as she’s the most followed female on Instagram. After seeing the backlash, she then wrote: “I’m taking a break. and deleting my Instagram. I’m done. I do not support any of what’s going on.”

Selena Gomez makes her return to Instagram with lighthearted post

On Wednesday night, Selena Gomez took to her Instagram stories to post some behind-the-scenes footage, seemingly filming new eps of her cookery series, Selena + Chef.

The 31-year-old launched the TV cooking series on HBO Max during the pandemic, and the show is now set to move over to the Food Network for four-holiday specials.

In the photos, the Lose You To Love Me star can be seen posing in an apron at a restaurant, holding a tray of delicious-looking food.

As well as her own Insta stories, Selena could be seen on her friend, Rae Sada’s stories, posing with a group of friends.

It looks like the Disney Channel alum has been enjoying spending time with her loved ones recently, as she was spotted on a girls’ night out in New York this weekend with Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, and Cara Delevingne.

The star previously took a four-year break from Instagram

It’s not the first time the star has taken a break from the platform. In fact, in 2018 she gave up Instagram for four years, handing over her account to one of her assistants.

The break came at a time when she had recently split up from Justin Bieber. She admitted the change in an interview with Fast Company.

“I had just gotten my heart broken. I didn’t need to see what everyone was doing,” she said.

As for her short break this month, her statement read: “I’ve been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s going on in the world. People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific,” she wrote. “We need to protect ALL people, especially children, and stop the violence for good.

“I’m sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can’t stand by innocent people getting hurt. That’s what makes me sick.”

“I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t,” she concluded.

She then went on to post a picture of her little sister, Gracie, along with the caption: “Having a sister, [seeing the conflict] every day has made me tragically sick. I would do anything for children and innocent lives.”
