Sir Patrick Stewart, who plays Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek series has spoken out about his ‘none existent’ relationship with his two children, which he ‘grieves.’
The Hollywood star has two children, Daniel and Sophie with his first wife Sheila Falconer. Both are now in their 50s, and “not a day goes by” where he isn’t ‘pained’ by the lack of relationship with them.

Sir Patrick Stewart ‘regrets’ how he treated his children
The movie star recently opened up about his estranged relationship with the pair, admitting that he feels “significant grief” being separated from them, which he never thought would happen.
“Given that I’m separated from my children now, – we don’t have relationships – they have become very important,” he told the Irish Independent.
“I never thought that this would happen, but both my children are in their 50s – they’re not children anymore, they’re adults. And my relationship with them is practically non-existent,” he continued.
The X-Men star said that “not a day goes by” when he’s not pained by the memory of his children. Speaking on what went down, the actor said he always put work first, before his family.
Although they no longer have a relationship, the 83-year-old says he still feels responsible that they “became who they are in part because of me and my influence or lack of influence on them”.
Patrick and his children’s mother split in 1990 after 22 years together. He then went on to remarry in 10 years later, although they split up three years later.
He’s now married to Sunny Ozell, since 2013.
Stewart was ‘horrified’ when his son went into acting

Although an actor himself, the star previously admitted he was “horrified” when he learned his son Daniel went into acting.
He’s previously starred in hit TV shows, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Silent Witness.
In 2009, he told The Independent he was “horrified” when he found out his son wanted to follow in his footsteps.
The star now admits he “could have done better as a parent” and is trying to correct that wherever possible with his four grandchildren.
“And my own children seem to have forgiven me,” he tells the Irish Independent.
